AMERICAN ROSE SOCIETY
The American Rose Society, founded in 1892, is an educational, nonprofit
organization dedicated entirely to the cultivation and enjoyment of roses.
24,000 members strong, the national organization is made up mainly of home
gardeners who enjoy growing roses and want to expand and share their
knowledge of rose culture. Many members also belong to local chapters and
affiliates throughout the country which offer rose-related programs and
activities.
The Society headquarters, located near Shreveport, Louisiana, is home to
over 20,000 rose bushes on the grounds of the American Rose Center. The
beautiful gardens feature nearly 400 varieties of modern and old garden
roses, and are the main attraction for many events held throughout the year.
American Rose Society members receive a monthly magazine, the American
Rose, containing articles written by rose growers from around the world.
ARS Consulting Rosarians, a national network of local rose experts, are
always ready and willing to share knowledge and enthusiasm for the rose.
The American Rose Society is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit educational
organization governed by a Board of Directors and operated under the
direction of an Executive Director and an Executive Committee.
