Back to District Information Betty Pavey Buckeye Bowl This trophy is awarded for an entry of four pink or pink blend Hybrid Tea roses at exhibition stage of the same or different variety, each in a separate container. This award was first presented in 1981 and honors Betty Pavey of Xenia, Ohio. Betty served the Buckeye District and the American Rose Society for many years. She held the District offices of second Vice-President through President from 1962 to 1964. She was Director of the Buckeye District on two occasions from 1967 to 1970 and from 1979 to 1982. She has been a leader in the advancement of arrangements with in the American Rose Society. She wrote the book “Say it With Roses” and presented it to the A.R.S. It was the guide used in all A.R.S. sanctioned shows for many years. In 1971, Betty was honored with the Silver Honor Medal and the Outstanding Consulting Rosarians awards. In 1978 she was chosen as the District’s Outstanding Judge, the first year this award was given. In 1983, she was awarded the American Rose Society Gold Honor Medal.
